Ecobank Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to support women-led businesses.
Speaking at the Elevate Business Forum to commemorate International Women’s Day, Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana, Abena Osei-Poku, said her outfit will continue to implement initiatives targeted at accelerating women as this year’s theme connotes.
“As a bank, we’ve always supported economic development at every stage and clearly, we have supported women. We are very keen on accelerating the progress of businesses and we seek to do more of that. I would like to thank all women who do business with us and our affirmation is to continue to support these businesses to help them grow”.
“Some initiatives we are undertaking to strengthen our relationship with these women-led businesses are; organising roundtable discussions every quarter and the Elevate Entrepreneurship Challenge,” she said.
A clinical psychologist and the Chief Executive Officer of Equilinks Counseling and Psychological Support Services, Dr. May Cullen Wulff-Caesar urged women to take time to care for their mental health amidst the chaos.
“Women take their mental health for granted because we’re programmed that way. Many times they don’t realise how much they’re going through especially trying to have a work-life balance and they’re still expected to be there for everyone. My advice is, from time to time they need to stop to check their mental health,” she emphasised.
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress”.
