Nigerian actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly called Jnr Pope, is dead.
The actor died in the afternoon of Wednesday, April 9, while filming in Asaba, Delta State capital, in Nigeria.
According to a Vanguard Nigeria source, Junior Pope died during a boat trip. The boat capsised and he, alongside two other yet-to-be-identified actors, drowned.
Junior Pope's body was recovered and rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The Delta State Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emma Onyemeziem, confirmed to Vanguard that the corpse had been deposited in the morgue.
Already the Nigerian movie industry has lost six of its actors since the start of 2024.
They include John Okafor (Mr Ibu), Adejumoke Oreoluwa Aderounmu, popularly known for her role as ‘Esther’ in popular TV series Jenifa’s Diary, Amaechi Muonagor, Sisi Quadri, Ethel Ekpe and Olofa Ina.
