Bafana Bafana of South Africa have been chosen as replacement for the Black Stars of Ghana to play the Super Eagles in a friendly on March 29 in a yet to be determined venue.
The Eagles were earlier scheduled to play the Bolivian national team on March 26 at the Uyo International Stadium(Nests of Champions) and play the Black Stars of Ghana on March 29 in London.
But FIFA’s new regulation on friendlies which stipulates that no country should play two games across two continents within three days has nullified the Ghana friendly. And in their place, the NFF and their South African counterparts have agreed for a friendly on March 29.
A very reliable source from the Glass house confirmed the match but said that they were yet to agree on the venue of the match.
The friendly would present a good ground for the Eagles to vent their spleen on the Bafana Bafana that stopped the Keshi Eagles from qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
The South African team out-played the Eagles and were heading home for an upset when the Eagles struggled to equalise to a 2-2 draw. And yet, the draw was not enough to take Eagles to Equatorial Guinea to defend the Nations Cup trophy they won in South Africa in 2013.
Cote d’Ivoire became champions in Equatorial Guinea at the expense of the Black Stars of Ghana in a pulsating penalty shoot-out.
