CalBank as part of efforts to empower women and improve their competencies has launched the CalWomen’s Network to upskill women to improve their contribution towards the growth of their business.
The CalWomen’s Network is a flagship programme that will provide avenues for mentorship, professional development, and leadership opportunities for women.
At the launch, Chairman of the CalBank Board, Joe Mensah underscored the need to support women in navigating the complexities of the modern financial landscape.
According to him, the rapid technological advancements and evolving customer expectations need proactive measures to meet customer demands.

The programme is also aimed at promoting gender equality both with clients and within the bank’s business operations in alignment with international best practices. In an interview, Board Chairman of CalBank, Joe Mensah said there’s the need to support women to navigate the modern financial landscape.
“We realized per the PWC report that majority of women in banking are at the lower levels and we think that there should be a deliberate intervention to push them to be able to be competitive and improve their competencies to move ahead. We want to encourage the women. The men must support them. In other places we have the affirmative action so we need to encourage them to thrive and have proper work-life balance”, he said.

Board Sponsor for the CalWomen’s Network Dr Cynthia Forson called for deliberate policies to create a conducive working environment for women to be able to excel in their roles.
The CalWomen’s Network also aims to build the capacity of women and prepare them for leadership and managerial roles to contribute to the expansion and growth of the business.
The women were entreated to be problem solvers and churn out innovative solutions that would propel the growth of the financial sector in Ghana.
