Majority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for the Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has commissioned two modern ICT centres with libraries for the pupils of Unipra Basic School and the Alata Kokodo community, both located within the Effutu Constituency.

The MP also commissioned a three-unit classroom block for Atekyedu Basic School, addressing the long-standing lack of a JHS block.

Additionally, he commissioned a 40-seat WC toilet for both Winneba Presby JHS and M/A Basic School.

The lawmaker also donated 20 brand new laptops to teachers who did not benefit from the "One Teacher, One Laptop" policy he initiated last year.

Speaking to JoyNews, Alexander Afenyo-Markin urged the teachers to take advantage of the facilities provided to them to shape the lives of the children for a better future.

He also called on the people of Effutu to support him in his leadership, stating that he is committed to working hard to support and develop Effutu, regardless of any political party affiliations.

“Ours is to work hard no matter how hard it is, and to have faith in God to make a difference because it is possible. I need all your support in my leadership.

"Leadership is truly a lonely journey without the support of your community, you cannot make it.  Help me to succeed. Effutu first. The seat I sit on in parliament is called the Effutu seat. I, therefore, count on you to support us to achieve, he appealed.

He also promised to construct two new model schools, one for boys and one for girls, to promote girl child education. Additionally, he pledged to establish three new senior high schools in Effutu.

“We are going to have two model schools: a model school for boys and one for girls in Winneba. Construction will start very soon, and I can promise you that we can commission it before the year ends.”

The MP further emphasized how proud he is as an indigene of Effutu and promised to work hard to achieve the Effutu dream.

“We want Effutu to train our future leaders. Effutu boasts of the highest number of libraries in the whole of Ghana. Very soon, we are going to commission three new secondary schools in Effutu.

"Our contractors are working very hard so that those who completed their BECE recently can attend. We are going to have three more secondary schools in addition to Winneba secondary,” he assured.

Afenyo-Markin also urged parents and children to cooperate with their teachers, emphasizing that education is a collective responsibility that requires everyone's involvement to thrive.

“A lot will depend on you. These little ones will have the future of the country called. Their future will depend on you. Please, do not fail these young ones.

"My duty as an MP is to do all I can to achieve the Effutu dream. The future dream is all about transforming our community and making Winneba a place of choice for business.”
