The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, leader and presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, to focus on policy-driven campaigns and avoid the use of insults as he prepares for the upcoming December 7 elections.
The advice was given during Alan Kyerematen’s visit to the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, October 2, where he sought the support of the people in the Ashanti Region.
In his remarks, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II highlighted the importance of focusing on policies that would benefit Ghanaians rather than resorting to negative rhetoric.
“All I will say is that Alan Kyerematen is my grandson and I will support his vision. I will urge you to clearly explain your policies to Ghanaians so they understand what you’re capable of. Focus on your campaign and your messages and desist from politics of insult.”
He encouraged Mr Kyerematen to centre his campaign around meaningful discussions that would resonate with the electorate and address the country's pressing issues.
Mr Kyerematen, in response, expressed his gratitude for the Asantehene’s wise counsel and assured him that his campaign would be policy-oriented.
He reiterated his commitment to running a campaign that reflects the aspirations of the people of Ghana and the values of his movement.
During the visit, Mr Kyerematen also introduced his running mate to the Asantehene, seeking the blessings and support of the traditional leadership in the Ashanti Region as he embarks on his presidential campaign.
