A second-half strike by Mawuli Wayo secured maximum points for Accra Hearts of Oak against Vision F.C on Friday.

But for some poor finishing, Hearts could have won by a wider margin at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Hearts coach Aboubakar Ouattara made two changes to his lineup, for Friday's encounter.

Michael Awuah was handed his Hearts debut, in place of the suspended Kelvin Osei Asibey.

He has had to with for 10 weeks for his first appearance of the season, having made 28 appearances last season for Nations F.C.

Midfielder Ramzy Yussif was also introduced for Hussein Mohammed, who missed out through suspension.

Having lost 3-0 to Nations F.C on Sunday, Vision F.C coach Nana Agyemang made three changes to the team.

Ben Tsatsu Teyechu, Patrick Mensah, and Edmund Asante started in place of Gideon Offei Ofori, Edward Agyemang, and Kingsley Appiah respectively.

Five minutes into the match, Vision F.C. created the first chance of the game when Issah Akukah found himself unmarked inside the penalty area.

However, the former Hearts striker could not apply the finish to Prince Asante's teasing cross.

Next, it was Hearts turn to be profligate. Kwabena Boateng spurned a glorious chance after eleven minutes, with the goal at his mercy.

The chance came from a Sani Mohammed cross which eluded Hamza Issa. With Vision goalkeeper Michael Abraham off his mark and the goal at his mercy, Boateng still managed to miss.

Thirteen minutes later, Hearts continued the trend when Ramzy missed an open goal.

Michael Abraham spilled the ball from a seemingly harmless Saani Mohammed cross, but Ramzay could not finish from 10 yards out.

After that, the match was reduced to a sparring session for the rest of the half.

In a move to change the scoreline, Hearts coach Ouattara rang the changes. He brought on Yaw Baafi Amankwaah for Emmanuel Amankwaah and Mawuli Wayo for Kwabena Boateng.

Four minutes into the second half, Mawuli Wayo scored for the second consecutive game, to put Hearts in front.

The former Gold Stars and King Faisal forward reacted quickest to stab home Michael Awuah's header from a Baafi Amankwaah cross.

Seven minutes later, Hearts came close to scoring, but Wayo's attempt from Sani's cross did not find the net.

In the sixty-second minute, Hearts were nearly punished for giving the ball away, when Patrick Mensah pounced on a loose ball at the edge of the area.

Unfortunately for Vision, Mensah's deflected effort missed the far post by millimeters.

Midway through the second half, Vision coach Nana Agyemang Gideon brought on Emmanuel Offei Frimpong and Emmanuel Atta for captain Emmanuel Kyei Baffour and striker Issah Akuka.

The substitutions reinvigorated the visitors who probed for the leveler. However, they were met by a miserly Hearts defense in no mood to let things slip.

In stoppage time, Offei Frimpong nearly caught out Hearts keeper Benjamin Asare, but he produced a smart save to protect their lead.

In the third minute of stoppage time, Asare was called upon to make another save, this time, to stop a goal-bound cross from a corner kick.

Asare's saves proved decisive as Hearts held on for a hard-fought win.

Friday's win means Hearts have now won consecutive league matches for the first time, since March 2024.

The Phobians have temporarily moved to fourth place, with 15 points.

Vision, meanwhile, are now winless in five consecutive league matches. Friday's defeat has pushed them further down the table to eleventh place with eleven points.
