Staff at the Legal Aid Commission have issued a threat to go on strike from Monday, November 25, citing years of neglect and exclusion from the newly established Law House.
Despite the inauguration of the Law House five months ago, the Commission continues to operate from its overcrowded and dilapidated offices, a situation which has led to growing frustration among its staff.
The Legal Aid Commission, which plays a critical role in providing legal assistance to Ghanaians, is struggling with substandard working conditions, according to the workers.
Staff who spoke to Channel One TV on condition of anonymity, expressed their growing frustration at the lack of adequate facilities.
“This is not fair, the office has to be renovated or relocated. When I go inside the office, the chairs are not appropriate, and I can’t even talk to my lawyer without all eyes staring at me,” a frustrated client, Lordina Adjeley Annan said.
