The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised to prioritize the completion of uncompleted projects in the Ashanti Region if his party is elected into office.
During a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace, the former president expressed disappointment at the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to complete key projects in the region after nearly eight years in government.
Speaking to the Asantehene, the former president said, “The last time I came here, I highlighted our projects in the Ashanti Region. These were crucial for the development of the area. While some were completed, others remained unfinished. Unfortunately, many of those left behind have been abandoned and are now deteriorating. For example, the Afari Military Hospital should not still be incomplete after eight years.”
John Mahama assured the Asantehene and the people of the region that the NDC government would not only finish these old projects, such as Phase 2 of the Kejetia Market but also initiate new ones to support development in the region.
In response, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II encouraged John Mahama to remind Ghanaians of his achievements while outlining his vision for the future. He also called for peaceful and fair elections, emphasizing the importance of transparency in the process.
The Asantehene said, “We all pray for free and fair elections. The results from polling stations will determine the winners, and we must all accept the outcomes. May God guide you and grant your desires.”
