No expatriate coach will be appointed as coach of champions Asante Kotoko, the club has confirmed to Joy Sports.
The Kumasi based club is racing against time to appoint Masud 'Didi' Dramani’s successor as they work at defending the league title and also do well in Africa.
Some foreign coaches have been linked to the club but its spokesperson Kweku Ahenkorah says the board and management will hand the job to an indigene.
“As it stands now it is not part of our consideration. Expatriate coaches will take time to study the terrain and our players and also know what it takes to be a coach in Ghana and also take time to know what is expected of him as a Kotoko coach,” he told Joy Sports.
“Meanwhile the local coaches definitely have had a bit of experience either coaching some of our players at different clubs or generally have a fair idea of the players we have now and for that matter a local coach will settle better and earlier than an expatriate coach.
“Looking at our situation now we believe a local coach will fit in,” he added.
