The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike in protest against the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
The decision follows a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) on February 11, 2025, where concerns were raised over the appointment of politically exposed persons into the Civil Service and local government structures.
The National Executive Committee resolved that if Mr Botchway assumed office, CLOGSAG would embark on an industrial action.
Following his official assumption of duty on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the association has announced that it has no option but to proceed with a nationwide strike, effective Thursday, February 20, 2025.
CLOGSAG has urged all its members to stay at home from the commencement of the strike until further notice.
