The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare, has emphasised the urgent need for a new approach to addressing the ongoing challenges within Ghana's education system.
He pointed out that traditional methods are no longer sufficient to resolve the deep-rooted issues affecting schools across the country.
Mr Asare's comments were prompted by a recent incident at Sabonjida D/A School in the Northern Region, where untrained volunteers, including Senior High School graduates, have been compelled to take on teaching roles due to the severe shortage of qualified teachers.
This has sparked concerns about the quality of education and the lack of essential resources for students.
Speaking on Joy News AM Show, Mr Asare expressed his concerns: “This is exactly why we need stakeholders from various institutions attending the zonal engagements to focus on finding new solutions." he said .
We must come together to explore what changes can be implemented to address these ongoing challenges.
"These issues not only affect the quality of education but also hinder the equitable delivery of education at all levels, especially in regions like Volta and Oti, where the situation is most critical.” he lamented .
He urged the government, educational bodies, and other key stakeholders to work collaboratively in developing more effective and lasting solutions to the problems facing the education sector.
