Communal clashes in the Bunkprugu/Nakpanduri district of the North East Region have resulted in devastating consequences.
Two individuals have tragically lost their lives, and over 500 others have been displaced.
The violence, which broke out last week in Ngagma-Gbregu, was triggered by a dispute regarding the installation of rival chiefs by the Chief of Binde.
The clashes lasted for three days, leaving widespread destruction in their wake. More than 150 homes were set ablaze, and over 5,000 sacks of stored food were destroyed.
This has caused immense hardship for the victims, especially women and children, who have been without sufficient food for several days.
In the wake of the violence, the displaced victims have made an appeal to the government for assistance, particularly in the area of food supplies.
During a visit by the area’s Member of Parliament, Abednago Bandim, the victims called for government intervention to ease their suffering.
