Bibiani GoldStars missed the chance to move to the top of the Ghana Premier League table after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Aduana FC in Dormaa on Sunday, March 17, 2025.
GoldStars, just one point behind league leaders Asante Kotoko, had the opportunity to overtake them following Kotoko’s 1-1 draw with Samartex on Saturday.
However, Aduana, determined to improve their inconsistent form, struck early. Kelvin Obeng netted twice within the first 15 minutes, putting the home side in firm control.
GoldStars failed to recover from the early setback, and Aduana held on to secure all three points. The loss leaves GoldStars in second place, now level on 37 points with Hearts of Lions, who leapfrogged them in the standings. Aduana, on the other hand, climbed to 11th, strengthening their bid to avoid relegation.
Elsewhere, Kwesi Pong’s 76th-minute goal secured a crucial win for Hearts of Lions against Karela United at the Kpando Stadium, pushing them to second place with 37 points—just one behind leaders Asante Kotoko.
The win boosts Hearts of Lions’ title ambitions, while Karela United’s relegation fight continues.
In other results:
• Nations FC edged Medeama 2-1 to move up to 5th.
• Legon Cities defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-1 at the UG Stadium.
• Bechem United secured a 2-0 win over Vision FC.
