The Ghana Cocoa Board is urging the general public, stakeholders, and members of the media to disregard any statements or reports suggesting that a decision has been made regarding the announcement of a new producer price for cocoa.
In an official statement , COCOBOD clarified that these claims are false, as the necessary institutional structures and processes required to determine and approve the producer price are currently not in place.
“The public is advised to disregard any statement or news suggesting a decision or announcement on the producer price of cocoa,” the statement said.
The statement further outlined the reasons why such an announcement should be disregarded:
- There is currently no Board of Directors in place, meaning there is no authority to make or approve such a crucial decision.
- The Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), which is responsible for reviewing and recommending the producer price, has not yet been convened or informed.
“In view of the aforementioned reasons, there is no way such an announcement can be made,” the statement concluded.
