Ghana’s comedy powerhouse, OB Amponsah, emerged as the biggest winner at the just-ended 2025 Ghana Comedy Awards, cementing his place as one of the nation’s leading comedic voices.
The celebrated stand-up comedian was crowned Stand-up Comedian of the Year, the most coveted individual prize of the night.
In addition to his personal accolade, OB Amponsah’s landmark 10th anniversary show, OB Amponsah Live at the Bukom Arena, won Comedy Special of the Year. The event, which marked a decade of his contribution to the comedy scene, was hailed by critics and fans alike for its creativity, humor, and emotional resonance.
OB’s influence in comedy extends beyond the stage. The radio show he co-hosts with fellow comedian Lekzy Decomic and a team of other humorists on 3FM 92.7; THE WMT SHOW also picked up the award for Radio Comedy Show of the Year, highlighting his versatility and wide-reaching impact in Ghanaian entertainment.
Speaking after the ceremony, OB expressed heartfelt gratitude to his supporters, collaborators, and the broader comedy community.
“This is not just for me, it’s for every comedian who believed that Ghanaian comedy has a future. We’re just getting started,” he said.
He also took a moment to appreciate key partners who played a significant role in the success of his 10th anniversary show.
“Special thanks to Kofi Adinkra and Africa Arts Network for helping pull off the Bukom Arena event. It was a massive dream, and they helped make it a reality,” OB added.
The 2025 Ghana Comedy Awards celebrated both emerging talents and established names, showcasing the growth and dynamism of the country’s comedy industry. OB Amponsah’s multiple wins are a testament to his consistency, creativity, and deep connection with audiences across platforms.
