Spanish LaLiga defender Manu Sanchez brought star power and inspiration to the inaugural Chairman Rashid Cup, held on June 7, 2025, at the Opeikuma Game Center in Kasoa, Ghana.
The 25-year-old Deportivo Alaves left-back was the headline guest at the grassroots tournament, where he played an active role in promoting youth development through football.
Sanchez’s presence in Ghana underlined the global reach of the game and its potential to unite communities.

As a brand ambassador for LAMSA, a football academy operating within the Buduburam refugee camp, the Spanish star took his involvement beyond ceremonial duties.
He coached LAMSA’s under-17 side during the tournament, sharing practical insights and offering mentorship to young players chasing professional dreams.

The Chairman Rashid Cup, named in memory of the late Alhaji Rashid Abdul Adams, was established to honour his contributions to the community and to foster investment in youth football.
The knockout competition featured selected teams from the Gomoa East District, with an emphasis on talent identification and community engagement.
Sanchez’s interaction with the young players served as a timely motivation and a powerful example of how global athletes can empower local communities.
