The Cape Coast police special intelligence investigations have led to the arrest of two individuals, suspected to be part of a syndicate in Elmina responsible for smuggling cocoa beans and illegal drugs to neighbouring countries.
The two suspects, named Andy Kwofie and Francis Armah, were arrested on Sunday, June 8, 2025, during a smuggling operation.
In a statement released by the Cape Coast police service, one of the suspects, Andy Kwofie, was caught driving a Hyundai truck with registration number CR- 726 - 25 containing 250 bags of cocoa beans.
He named Francis Armah as the recipient of the cocoa beans, who will, in turn, transport them to unnamed neighbouring countries.

The truck is currently with the regional police headquarters in Cape Coast, and the suspects are in police custody assisting investigations.
The Cape Coast police say they are working to arrest members of the cocoa beans and illicit drugs syndicate.
