The Management of Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL), Accra West Region, has informed its customers and the public that the Weija Treatment Plant has been shut down for emergency repair works on major pipelines supplying water to the western parts of Accra.
The shutdown, which began at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, is expected to last until 5:00 p.m., resulting in water supply interruptions across several communities.
The affected areas include : Korle-Bu, Dansoman, Mamprobi, parts of Weija, Gbawe, Malam, Anyaa, Kwashieman, Ablekuma, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Tesano, Odorkor, Sowutuom, Lapaz, parts of Achimota, North Industrial Area, and adjoining communities.
The company apologised for the inconvenience and assured the public that the normal water supply will resume promptly once repairs are complete.
“Our engineers are on site working hard to ensure that the work is completed on schedule.” the management assured. “We regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers and the public.”
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make alternative water arrangements during the repair period.
