The police protection previously assigned to the residence of Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa, in Labone, Accra, has been quietly withdrawn, according to reports.
As confirmed by Asaase News, the officers who had been stationed at the property to provide round-the-clock security were removed last week. No official reason has been given for the decision.
A vendor who operates near the premises told reporters that the last time she saw any police officers on duty was Wednesday, 25 June 2025.
She said that the absence of visible security has raised questions among residents and passers-by.
Jean Mensa, who was appointed EC Chair in 2018, has overseen two general elections and several by-elections.
