Promising Ghanaian youth advocate and student leader, Titus Owusu Darko, has been awarded a medal and a cash prize of GH₵2,000 for his outstanding performance in the 2025 Commonwealth Day Essay Competition.
The award, presented at the Ghana Parliament, was sponsored by the National Investment Bank (NIB) as part of this year’s PN Africa National Youth Mock Parliament.
Titus, a student at the University of Media, Arts and Communication – Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-IJ), formerly known as the Ghana Institute of Journalism, was recognised for his exceptional writing skills and insightful perspective on the theme: “The Future of Work and Innovation: How Are Automation and Digital Transformation Reshaping Industries?”

His essay stood out among entries from student parliaments representing nine tertiary institutions, including the University of Ghana, KNUST, and the University of Cape Coast.
This marks the second consecutive year that Titus has been honoured by the Ghana Parliament. In 2024, he received a medal for his participation in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Debate and Mock Sitting, solidifying his growing reputation as a leader in youth advocacy, diplomacy, and political communication.
The 2025 competition challenged students to explore how digital transformation and automation are reshaping industries, with a focus on preparing the youth for the future of work.

Titus’ contribution reflected both academic rigour and practical understanding, qualities that continue to position him as a rising figure in national discourse on youth empowerment.
The National Investment Bank PLC, as headline sponsor, provided financial support for the event’s organisation and prizes. Their involvement underscores the increasing interest of corporate institutions in supporting youth development through education and civic engagement.

Titus Owusu Darko’s win is a testament to his commitment to excellence and his unwavering passion for advocacy. His success continues to inspire many young Ghanaians across academic and leadership spaces.
