A journalist with JoyNews, Carlos Calony, has been detained by National Security operatives while covering the demolition of a warehouse owned by businessman Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan.

The incident took place on the Spintex road in Accra on Wednesday, July 30.

A warehouse owned by renowned Ghanaian businessman and Executive Chairman of the McDan Group, Daniel McKorley, was allegedly demolished late Monday night by national security operatives.

The structure, located on the Spintex Road next to Action Chapel, was reportedly torn down around 7.00pm.

Eyewitnesses say several excavators were involved in the operation.

Though still under construction and unoccupied, construction workers living on-site witnessed the demolition firsthand.

Mr Calony was at the scene documenting the demolition exercise and the growing tensions between civilians and men in military uniform.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

It is still unknown what triggered the confrontation, but the development has raised fresh concerns over the safety of journalists in the line of duty in Ghana.
