Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah, has urged Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to seize the opportunities presented by the government’s 24-hour economy policy to expand their operations.
He made the call during the rebranding ceremony of Engen Ghana Limited to Misa Energy Ghana Ltd.
Speaking at the event, Gyan-Mensah underscored the importance of the 24-hour economy in driving economic growth and creating employment.

He highlighted that OMCs are strategically positioned to benefit from the policy by extending their operational hours and service delivery.
“We cannot discuss the 24-hour economy without acknowledging the critical role of OMCs, as they are the engine room for the last-mile delivery of petroleum products. OMCs serve as the bridge between national bulk supply systems and end-users.
Within the 24-hour economy, the Ministry recognises OMCs as not just retailers of petroleum products but key economic enablers who will ensure that industries, retailers, healthcare facilities, hospitality operators, delivery services, agro-processors, and public transporters operate seamlessly, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” Gyan-Mensah stated.
The rebranding of Engen Ghana to Misa Energy Ghana Ltd marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy. The Deputy Minister praised Misa Energy for its commitment to innovation and its proactive response to the evolving energy sector.
