A Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter carrying eight people has gone missing after taking off from Accra Tuesday morning en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti region.
According to a statement issued by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the aircraft, which departed the capital at 9:12 a.m., lost radar contact during the flight.
On board were three crew members and five passengers.
“All efforts are being made to establish contact,” the GAF said.
“Further details will be communicated soon.”
Search and rescue operations are underway as authorities work to determine the helicopter’s location and the status of those onboard.
