The widow of the late Deputy Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Samuel Aboagye, Mrs. Abigail Aboagye, has recounted how she had been anticipating their reunion in the United States only to hear the news of her husband's death.
According to her, "I was holding onto those words with so much joy, eagerly counting down the days until I would see you again in Atlanta, Georgia, on the 18th. I was waiting to be in your arms, to laugh with you, to celebrate my birthday by your side like we had planned," she said in her tribute at the state funeral of her late husband and seven others in Accra on Friday, August 15.
She asked the question that has haunted her since his passing. “Why then, hmmmm… why am I in Ghana
mourning you instead?” she lamented, reflecting on how their plans for joy and celebration were suddenly replaced by grief after the helicopter crash that claimed his life.
