World Aquatics has confirmed that the upcoming Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Junior, Senior and Masters Swimming Championships will serve as an official qualifying event for the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m), scheduled for Beijing in 2026.
The continental championship will take place from October 3 to 5, 2025 at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, bringing together top swimmers from across West and Central Africa.
Ghana is expecting participation from more than 15 countries, making the event one of the largest aquatics gatherings in the sub-region.
According to World Aquatics, athletes who compete in Accra will have the opportunity to achieve the “A” and “B” qualifying standard times required for entry into the World Championships.
The Beijing event is expected to welcome over 1,000 world-class athletes from more than 200 countries and regions to compete across six days of action.
For Team Ghana, the Zone 2 Championships present both a competitive platform and a gateway to the global stage.
National swimming stars including Abeku Jackson, Nubia Adjei, Harry Stacey, and Joselle Mensah are expected to lead the charge as Ghana looks to make a strong impression on home soil.
Having successfully staged multiple Zone 2 events in recent years, the 2025 edition further strengthens the country’s positioning as a hub for aquatic sports development in Africa.
With continental pride and global qualification on the line, all eyes now turn to Accra as the countdown begins.
