Marwan Traboulsi, the pioneering Ghanaian entrepreneur whose ventures transformed the country’s agricultural exports and air logistics sector, has passed away in the United Kingdom.
He died on Tuesday, 30th September.
Born in Accra to the late Amin and Sybil Traboulsi, Marwan began his professional journey in the trading business before co-founding FARMEX, an agricultural company that cultivated mango and pineapple plantations and grew into an international brand.
His early work in agriculture revealed a gap in reliable logistics for Ghana’s exporters — a challenge he later set out to solve.
Driven by a deep belief in Ghana’s potential, Marwan established Air Ghana, a pioneering aviation enterprise that expanded air cargo opportunities for perishable exports and other goods to Europe.
His vision and leadership helped open new global markets for Ghanaian farmers and strengthened the country’s role in regional and international trade.
Among his lasting contributions to Ghana’s aviation landscape was the creation of the Ghana Airport Cargo Centre (GACC)at Kotoka International Airport, as well as the establishment of Swissport Ghana, one of the world’s leading ground handling and logistics companies.
Together, these ventures cemented Ghana’s position as a growing logistics and aviation hub in West Africa.
Tributes have poured in from industry colleagues and associates who described Marwan as a “visionary with boundless energy, courage, and foresight” whose influence spanned agriculture, aviation, and international trade.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, his children, Cara and Karim, and four grandchildren.
A Book of Condolences has been opened at the Ghana Airport Cargo Centre (Ground Floor).
Burial and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
