A potentially catastrophic fire involving a petrol tanker was swiftly brought under control by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Sunday in the town of Grupe, located in the Savannah Region.
The incident occurred around 11:11 am, when GNFS received a distress call reporting a fire involving a fuel tanker with registration number GT-9305-25.

According to a post shared on Facebook by GNFS, the tanker, which was transporting petrol at the time, caught fire on Sunday, October 5, under circumstances yet to be determined.
Fire crew members from the Sawla and Bole Fire Stations were immediately dispatched to the scene, led by officers on duty.

Reinforcements from Bole later joined the effort, and the blaze was successfully contained by 12:15 pm, just over an hour after the initial alert.
The GNFS noted that the contents of the tanker remained intact, and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the GNFS.
