Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his sadness following the tragic death of six potential recruits during a Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra on Wednesday, November 12.
The incident also left several others injured, with some in critical condition.
The injured recruits are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
In a post shared on Facebook, Akufo-Addo conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, offering his support to the bereaved during this difficult time.
He also extended his best wishes for the recovery of those still in the hospital, praying for their swift physical and emotional healing.
“I convey to the bereaved families my deep condolences and wish the potential recruits in hospital a rapid recovery from their injuries, and indeed, from the accompanying trauma to all who were at the El Wak stadium, their parents or guardians, and their loved ones,” the former president said.

He acknowledged the emotional toll the incident has had on not only the victims but also their families and the wider Ghanaian community, urging strength and resilience as the nation grapples with the loss.
“May the Lord be with us all at this difficult moment,” he wrote.
