Former Auditor-General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo, says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has shown excessive tolerance when it comes to corruption in his government.
He listed various instances of corruption, expressing dismay at the lack of substantial actions taken by President Akufo-Addo in response.
He questioned the lack of consequences for government officials implicated in corruption scandals, suggesting that the President’s response has been too lenient.
“How many government officials have been accused of corruption and what has happened to them? I think the president has been too tolerant when it comes to corruption,” he said in an interview on TV3.
Mr. Domelevo underscored the need for accountability, particularly citing the Agyapa Royalties deal as an example.
The comments by Mr. Domelevo follow similar assertions made by founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe.
According to him, contrary to pledges by the President to eliminate corruption during his campaign period, his administration has rather left much to be desired since taking over power in 2017.
Speaking during an interview on JoyNews' AM Show on Thursday, March 14, 2024, the veteran politician accused President Akufo-Addo of heading the most corrupt regime in Ghana’s history.
"We promised the people of this country that we shall put a stop to it. He's now the worst in the history of this country," he explained.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe insisted that Nana Akufo-Addo has "failed totally in the fight against corruption."
During the interview, he also touched on the prospects of NPP flagbearer and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia's fortunes in the party.
According to him, Dr Bawumia would not have secured the flagbearer post without President Akufo-Addo's monetary intervention.
"But for the backing of Akufo-Addo with money, Bawumia couldn't have won the position," he said.
On the back of this, he believes the Vice President has a daunting task ahead as he is currently "in the wrong terrain."
He does not believe Dr Bawumia has the backing of a majority of the party members.
