The late Nana Meebo II, chief of Borae Ahenfie, and his two companions, his brother and his linguist, whose bodies were discovered on a farm after an ambush on November 19, 2022, have been buried according to Nchumuru customs and traditions.
Prior to their burial, they were laid in state for two days for mourners to pay their last respects, starting from November 14, to Saturday, November 15.
Scores of mourners trooped to Borae Ahenfie, farming community under Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region, to pay their last respects to the late chief and the two others.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA), sighted some of the mourners, especially people that were close to the deceased chief and his companions, openly shedding tears in anguish.
Bereaved family members, draped in black, and red, wept as the drums fell silent and the community performed the customary rites.
Earlier report on their deaths indicated that they were shot dead by unknown assailant, whilst they worked on a contentious land.
The report suggested that, the late chief had a misunderstanding with some factions in the community over a piece of land, a case he won at the Krachi West District court.
After the incident, some 14 suspects were arrested by a joint police-military team in connection with the late chief and the other two deaths.
