The Paramount Chief of Takpang Traditional Area in the Krachi Nchumuru District, Nana Akwasi Omankuminte II, has called on the government to expedite action in bringing to justice the perpetrators behind the murder of the late Nana Meebo II, Chief of Borae Ahenfie.
The late chief, also the brother and linguist of Nana Omankuminte II, was murdered alongside two others in the Oti Region.
Their bodies were discovered on a farm after a search on November 19, 2022.
The trio was laid to rest on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in a solemn ceremony steeped in Nchumuru customs.
Speaking at the funeral ground, Nana Omankuminte II, decried that 14 suspects were arrested shortly after the killings and later released by the Krachi West District Court.
He urged the government and state institutions to expedite investigations and bring the case before a High Court.
Nana Omankuminte II said the alleged perpetrators were still at large and demanded that security agencies help look for them and prosecute them in a higher court.
"If they are found guilty, they must face the law, if not, they should be freed,” he said, emphasizing that justice delayed is justice denied.
Mr Solomon Kwame Kosoe, funeral committee chairman, also reiterated the need for the government to help find the perpetrators and bring justice in the Borae Ahenfie case.
He said just as the state intervened in the murder of Major Maxwell Mahama, so must it intervene in that of Nana Meebo II, and the two others.
Mr Atta Kwadwo, a family member of the late Nana Meebo II, also expressed the worry that while the perpetrators have been left on the hook, the bereaved children and widows were struggling to meet basic needs.
"The deceased's children and wives are feeling pain, what they will eat become a problem, meanwhile, the alleged perpetrators have been freed and are walking about, taking care of their families," he said.
