The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), CEO Margaret Ansei, has officially received 100 laptops and 30 car tyres from the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).
This is to boost the agency’s operational capacity in delivering support services to MSMEs nationwide.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony in Accra, Madam Ansei praised the donation as a significant milestone in GEA’s ongoing collaboration with UNIDO and the Japanese government under the “Expanding the Kaizen Initiative by Enhancing Sustainable Agribusiness” project.
She noted that the partnership is already yielding remarkable results, with 204 district technical officers trained and several benefiting from international exposure through UNIDO’s certification scheme. Of these, 13 are awaiting final certification.
The CEO emphasised that the project was designed not only to enhance technical capabilities but also to improve logistical readiness—an objective reflected in the previous supply of vehicles and office furniture, and now the addition of laptops to strengthen field operations.
Madam Ansei also highlighted the success of UNIDO’s digital U-SPARK initiative in selected manufacturing firms, describing it as a transformative tool that allows businesses to make real-time, data-driven decisions.

She said Ghana’s achievements under U-SPARK are now influencing the African Union’s broader agenda to digitalise manufacturing across the continent.
She assured stakeholders that the equipment received would be used effectively to support MSMEs and deepen GEA’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and innovative enterprise sector.
Madam Ansei concluded by expressing appreciation to UNIDO, the Government of Japan, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, stressing the importance of sustaining the partnership to drive job creation, export competitiveness, and economic growth.
