Nigerian actor Bucci Franklin has said that his current mission is to help build a borderless Africa through content creation, using platforms across the continent, including Ghana, to push the agenda.
He noted that Ghana is blessed with remarkable talent and rich creative resources, adding that many African countries look to Ghana for quality content and strong collaboration.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on the red carpet of the 2025 EMY Africa Awards, the actor said his decision to spend time in Ghana was tied to his broader goal of fostering unity through creative work.
“My mission and vision right now is to create a borderless Africa through content creation and that’s why I said yes to coming here and spending time with our brothers and sisters in Ghana because this platform is essential when it has to do with creating a borderless Africa. There are South African filmmakers here, there are Kenyan filmmakers here and there are filmmakers from different parts of Africa”, he said.
He urged young creatives to remain authentic and original in their storytelling to reflect their true African identity.
“What I would say to the next generation of creatives working on their projects right now, be authentic to the story that you’re about to tell, be original because nobody can tell this story more than you. You’re African, you are authentic, so stay true to the script, stay true to the story”, he added.
Bucci Franklin also called on Ghanaians to intentionally promote their own creative works instead of allowing others to tell their stories for them.
“There are a lot of stories that we can tell so I think it’s time for us to be authentic and tell our stories so that we don’t have our brothers and sisters outside coming to tell our own stories for us”, he stated.
