The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that all scheduled District Assembly and Unit Committee by-elections have been postponed until further notice.
In a short public notice dated Wednesday, December 3, the Commission said the decision affects all upcoming local-level elections.
“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that the District Assembly and Unit Committee By-Elections have been put on hold until further notice.”
The EC added that it will communicate new dates. “New dates will be announced in due course,” the notice said.
The Commission did not offer any detailed explanation for the decision.
