The Northern Regional Police Command has successfully arrested three suspected kidnappers during an intelligence-led operation conducted on Saturday, December 6, in Bokpaba, a community located along the Bimbilla–Yendi stretch of the Eastern Corridor.
The suspects Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi are believed to be members of a four-man kidnapping syndicate responsible for abducting a 42-year-old man from Wapuli in the Yendi District.
According to police reports, the suspects demanded a GH¢100,000 ransom from the victim’s family as a precondition for his release.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 8, the police noted that upon receiving information about the kidnapping, the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) swiftly deployed a five-member team to Wapuli.

The officers were tasked with conducting surveillance, rescuing the victim, and apprehending the suspects.
On Friday, December 5, the operation culminated in a dramatic confrontation during which police engaged the suspects in an intensive exchange of gunfire.
Despite the danger, the officers managed to rescue the victim safely and arrest three members of the syndicate.
The fourth suspect, whose identity remains withheld by Police, fled the scene during the gunfire exchange and is believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.

The Northern Regional Police Command urged residents in communities around Wapuli, Bimbilla, and Yendi to report any suspicious individuals or provide information that may lead to the fugitive’s arrest.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days as investigations continue.
"The suspects are currently in Police custody and will be arraigned before court."
The Northern Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating violent crime and enhancing public safety.
"Meanwhile, the fourth suspect is believed to have sustained gunshot wounds and Police is urging the public to assist with relevant information that would lead to his arrest," the statement read.
