FC Samartex 1996 returned to winning ways with a narrow but vital 1-0 victory over Heart of Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.
The Timber Giants made home advantage count, with Emmanuel Mamah’s 39th-minute strike proving decisive in the contest.
Samartex controlled large spells of the first half and were rewarded just before the break when Mamah found the net to swing the momentum their way.
Heart of Lions pushed for an equaliser after the restart but struggled to rediscover the spark that once kept them in the title conversation.
The defeat compounds a difficult period for the Kpando-based side, who have now suffered back-to-back losses.
The result lifts Samartex to sixth on the standings with 24 points, while Lions slip out of the top six, dropping to seventh with 23 points.
