The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the date for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) draw.

The draw for this year's edition of the tournament is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, in Rabat, as 16 teams gear towards the continental football festival.

The Black Queens are among 16 teams that would be competing for the top prize as well as a spot at next year's Women's World Cup to be staged in Brazil.

The draw will also mark a historic achievement in the history of the competition as it will be the first edition to feature 16 teams since its inception. The draw will take place at 13:00 GMT.

It will also be the second consecutive time Morocco is hosting the competition, having done so for the 2024 edition, which was won by Nigeria.

Ghana will be in Pot 1 for the draw, having finished 2025 in third position as far as ranking on the continent is concerned.

All 16 teams qualified for the tournament are:

Morocco (hosts), Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia.

The Black Queens finished with a bronze medal in the last edition, beating South Africa on penalties in the third-place playoff game.
