The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has described recent comments by Professor Kwabena Frimpong–Boateng as hurtful and detrimental to the party’s unity and integrity.
The General Secretary said the remarks risk undermining internal cohesion and could weaken public confidence in the governing party at a critical time
Speaking on "Ekosisen" on AsempaFM, he stated that while the former minister was in office, he never described the party as fake, adding that such characterisation only emerged after leaving government
“When he was a minister, why didn’t he notice the party was fake, he said.”
He further alleged that the former minister had claimed the 2023 party election was manipulated in favour of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, an accusation he described as serious and unfounded.
“Also, he made an allegation that the 2023 election result was rigged for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the General Minister said.”
He questioned why the claims were emerging only now, as the country approaches the 2026 elections, suggesting that the timing was deliberate and politically motivated.
He said the former minister was fully aware of the impact of his comments and was making them intentionally, allegedly in collaboration with others.
“It means the man is aware of what he is doing, and he is intentionally doing it with people, he said.”
The General Secretary said he had referred the matter to the party’s National Executive Committee, citing Article 4(4) of the NPP constitution, which allows for disciplinary action against members whose conduct brings the party into disrepute.
He added that he is confident the leadership would take the necessary steps to resolve the issue.
