The Accra Professional Ladies Open was officially launched on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Mansa Gold Chocolate Shop and Café in Osu.
The all-ladies tennis tournament makes a return after a three-year hiatus and is scheduled to run from March 3 to March 8 at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club.
The competition forms part of activities marking International Women’s Day in Ghana, aimed at celebrating the achievements of women, highlighting their growing contribution to sport, and promoting healthy living.

Speaking at the launch, organisers Mansa Gold and co-organiser Naa Shika Adu expressed excitement about the tournament’s comeback and outlined her expectations ahead of the competition.
“For the first time, this is going to be a ranking tournament, and it will also help us prepare for the Billie Jean Cup this year,” she said.
“The Billie Jean Cup is the female version of the Davis Cup, and this year we have over 43 young ladies who have made it into the main draw,” she added.
She further emphasised that the tournament is open to women of all ages, although special attention is being given to young girls as part of a long-term development agenda.

“Looking at the developmental system in Ghana, we are giving young girls aged 11 and 12 the opportunity to set goals for themselves. This is a developmental project, and we want everyone involved in tennis in Ghana to feel celebrated, so we invited all stakeholders,” she stated.
