Ghanaian reggae musician David Oscar Dogbe has renewed calls for African unity with a live rendition of his latest single, Africa As One.

Released on 27th June 2026, the song seeks to revive the spirit of Pan-Africanism by encouraging Africans to embrace a shared identity and work collectively towards the continent’s development.

According to David Oscar, the song is both a celebration of Africa’s rich heritage and a call for Africans to reconnect with the ideals championed by the continent’s liberation heroes and Pan-African thinkers.

The celebrated reggae artiste delivered a powerful and emotionally charged rendition of the song during his annual music festival, Reggae Spot Unplugged.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, David Oscar noted that despite Africa’s abundant human talent and natural resources, the continent continues to grapple with divisions stemming from colonial borders, political conflicts, xenophobia and economic dependence.

“The message behind Africa As One is simple. Africa’s strength lies in unity. The voices of Pan-Africanists like Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara, Julius Nyerere, and Patrice Lumumba should continue to inspire us,” he said.

Pan-Africanism has long advocated African solidarity, political cooperation, economic independence and cultural pride. Against this backdrop, Africa As One serves as a reminder of the need for renewed unity as the continent confronts challenges that require collective action.
