A committee tasked with developing a strategy document, priority pillars and work programme for President John Mahama’s 2027 African Union (AU) chairmanship has completed its work and submitted five reports to the President.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who chaired the committee, said the reports were formally presented to President Mahama at the Presidency on Friday, August 21.
Mr Ablakwa also presented highlights of the committee’s work to the President as part of preparations for his assumption of the continental role.
He disclosed this in a social media post on Sunday, August 23.
According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, the preparatory work is aimed at positioning President Mahama’s tenure to deliver meaningful and lasting results for Africa.
“President Mahama’s tenure is expected to be transformative and impactful due to the rigorous preparatory work underway and his bold vision for our continent,” Mr Ablakwa said.
He expressed appreciation to the members of the committee for the opportunity to contribute to Ghana’s preparations and to the broader development of the African continent.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Ghana and Africa,” he added.
The committee also extended its best wishes to President Mahama ahead of his assumption of the AU chairmanship in January 2027.
