The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has suspended the erection of new billboards across the Kumasi metropolis until further notice.

The Assembly said the directive forms part of measures to enforce its outdoor advertising regulations and maintain a safe, orderly and properly managed urban environment.

In a statement dated September 1, 2026, the KMA directed billboard owners, outdoor advertising companies, managers and individuals who rent out billboard spaces to report to the Assembly for verification.

The affected operators are required to present valid permits and proof of payment of applicable fees for the 2026 financial year.

The Assembly has given operators 14 days from Tuesday, September 1, to submit the required documents and regularise their operations.

It warned that billboard structures whose operators fail to provide the necessary permits and evidence of payment within the stipulated period will be removed in accordance with existing regulations.

“All affected operators are therefore urged to comply within the stipulated period to avoid enforcement action,” the Assembly stated.

Operators are to submit their documents to the Physical Planning Department of the KMA, located at the Adum Ministries area near the Ghana Immigration Service Regional Command.

The KMA said the exercise is aimed at ensuring that all billboard structures within the metropolis are properly authorised and that operators comply with the Assembly’s regulatory requirements.
