A high powered six-member delegation from the Delta Region of the United States of America is currently in the Volta region to explore the investment potentials of the region as part of a partnership programme being forged between the two regions.

The Delta Region comprises eight states in the US including Arkansas, Illinois, Kenturky, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Tennessee. 

The investment tour is part of a partnership programme between Volta region and Arkansas State and the rest of the Delta region of the United States of America.

The project is being facilitated by the  Sister Cities Global partnership programme.

The areas of the partnership being explored are communication, tourism, health, education and exchange programmes; energy, oil and gas; roads and building Infrastructure; agriculture, trade and industry.

During the opening ceremony for the 10-day programme held in Ho, the Volta Regional minister Helen Adjoa Ntosso was hopeful that the economic lot of the people of the Volta Region will be transformed as a result of this single initiative and that both regions (Delta and Volta) will enjoy mutually beneficial result of a great partnership.

The six-member team is currently touring different tourist sites and locations of investment interest such as Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary, Mount Afadja, Amedzorfe Tourism Enclave, Salt Mining sites in the Keta Municipality and Kpando Tokor. 

The rest are Agotime Kente Weaving Centre at Kpetoe, Chilli Pepper Farms in the Kpando Municipality and Kpeve Tonu Fish Farming sites on the Volta Lake.

The ten-day tour is also to create an opportunity for match-making between Ghanaian businesses and their counterparts in the United States.

The delegation led by Secretary of State of the State of Arkansas Mark Martin and his Deputy Joseph Wood comprises leaders and representatives of the business society, academia and governance.

Other members of the delegation are Sherman Banks, Owner and Founder of Banks International Consulting and President Emeritus of Sister Cities International; Donald Dale Simpson, Chairman of Department of Lab Sciences at College of Health Professions of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences; Denise Thomas, Director of Africa and Marketing-World Trade Centerof Arkanasas; and Jason Aaron Shivers, Director of Aristotle Films and Communications. 

A partnership agreement is expected to be signed between the Volta Region and the Delta Region by June, 2015 in the United States to seal the partnership and begin implementation afterwards.
