he committee which investigated last month's attempted jailbreak at the Kumasi Central prisons has submitted its report to the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC).
Contents of the document will however only be made public until the Interior Minister receives it.
In early February, inmates at the Kumasi Central Prisons set up parts of the facility ablaze in what was later confirmed by authorities as an escape attempt.
The incident created a stampede which left one person dead and several others, including security personnel, injured while vital documents were destroyed.
The Interior Ministry and the Regional Security Council set up a five- member committee to probe the incident.
Over three weeks, members took submissions from 43 witnesses made up of prison officials, police, fire service personnel as well as convicted and remand prisoners.
Ashanti Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Peter Baba, led the investigative team.
Giving only snippets of the contents of the report, Peter Baba said it has been confirmed officially that the riots that occurred at the detention centre was precipitated by a fire outbreak at some of the blocks.
"The committee made appropriate recommendations that will forestall future occurrences of such disturbances and sharpen the skills and professionalism of prison officers," he said.
Acting Regional Minister and Chairman of the REGSEC, Eric Opoku, told Luv News the report will soon be forwarded to the Interior Minister for its contents to be made public.
"The prison service falls under the interior ministry so by close of day today, the reports will be sent to the minister.
"The content will be made public the minister in charge of the Interior Ministry and the Regional Security Council," he stated.
