Inmates at the Nsawam prisons say they feel excited and connected to society following Joy FM’s visit to the facility to celebrate Easter with them.
Officials of the station donated items including bags of rice, toiletries and other materials as part of the Joy FM Easter Soup kitchen.
Programs Director Kofi Ansah presented the items to the Nsawam prisons authorities.
“On behalf of the Multimedia and our partners we want to present these items and we hope it will go a long way to help the inmates of the Nsawam prisons,” Kofi Ansah said.
Joy FM had to alter its annual Easter Soup Kitchen programme which over the years was organized at the Children’s Park.
They also spent time interacting with the inmates at the Nsawam prisons.

This year the station decided to focus on prison inmates some of whom have been kept on remand for many years without trial.
Thanks to Joy News’ documentary “Locked and forgotten” a number of the remand inmates have been released.
The station thought there was no better time to show love to some of the inmates still at the Nsawam prisons than the Easter period.
Seth Kwame Boateng who put together the documentary was one of the Joy FM staff who made a return to the Nsawam prison to fraternize with the inmates.
