Joy News' investigations have uncovered that over 700 motorbikes purchased for several millions of cedis have been left to gather dust at the company’s offices in some districts.
The over 700 motorbikes were distributed to 79 district offices in the Central, Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Ashanti and Western regions by the head office in Accra.
The brand new Blue Cross motorbikes which were supposed to be used for monitoring and data logging exercise by the company have been left at the mercy of the weather in 6 regions across the country.
Although the motorbikes were brought two years ago and distributed to ECG staff, Joy News checks reveal they are not in use.

Joy News’ Kwetey Nartey who was at Kasoa said some 22 motorbikes were parked behind the main block, covered in dust.
The seats have been hardened due to their continuous exposure to the sun.
Information gathered by Kwetey Nartey indicates that the motorbikes are not being used because the ECG office has failed to train staff who are supposed to use them for the meter reading exercises.
Officials of ECG have declined to comment but, an official at the Central Regional Office said the motorbikes are not being used because the ECG has contracted third parties to undertake monitoring exercises on behalf of the company.
Although the motorbikes were bought to reduce losses recorded by the company, Kwetey Nartey gathered that this is not the case and that the company still records huge losses.

The situation is no different in the Central Regional Capital, Cape Coast.
About eight motorbikes, Kwetey Nartey gathered have been left under sheds draped in dust.
An official at the office said they are yet to receive instructions from the head office on the use of the bikes.
Here in Accra, at the Kwame Circle office of the ECG, the motorbikes have been locked in a storeroom, and the reason is that there is no authorisation for their use.
Officials there say the motorbikes are issued out based on instructions and until that is done, they cannot recommend their use.
