The much-anticipated maiden edition of the Kaneshie Area Church of Pentecost Youth Sports Fiesta finally came off on Easter Monday, with team Israel lifting the prized trophy.
The determined and dexterous lads and lasses from Israel fended off competition from 17 other contending Districts to emerge the overall winners of the keenly contested Sports Fiesta sponsored by Ultimate Scaffold, dealers in rental and sales services of scafold.
The highly patronised event was organised under the auspices of the Area Youth Ministry Pastor, Daniel Okyei Boakye. It aimed, among others, at using sports to win souls for the Kingdom of God.

In the individual discipline, Darkuman won the football gala in pulsating penalties, humbling the formidable side from Israel with Mataheko placing third.
Abossey Okai beat team Adwen-Bu in the nerve-racking table tennis competition leaving the third place for Nii Boiman.
After fixating finals in the highly tensed volley ball, team Bubiashie North saw off their opponents from Kaneshie P.I.W.C. in a crucial two-one win.
In a decidedly contested sprint competition, Mataheko, Kwashieman and Israel proved their mettle placing first, second and third respectively.

In an all-female lime and spoon race, Israel was declared the winner with Nii Boiman and P.I.W.C. placing second and third in that order.
There were other non-scoring games such as ludo, tug of peace, ampe, among others.
Having bagged a maximum 24 points, team Israel were adjudged winners of the competition relegating the overzealous athletic team from Mataheko District to the second position for obtaining 16 points.

Four teams with 12 points apiece split the 3rd position. They are: Abossey Okai Worship Centre, Nii Boiman District, Kaneshie P.I.W.C., and Bubiashie North District.
Adwen-Bu District, arguably with the youngest squad, managed to share the 4th position with Darkuman District who were tipped as one of the favourites.
Shalom Worship Centre consoled themselves with the 5th position in the fiesta to remember.

Pastor Daniel Okyei Boakye, Kaneshie Area Youth Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, told the media one of the objectives of the Sports Fiesta to bring the youth together to socialise as members of the church was achieved, and commended the committee and area youth executives for helping stage a hugely successful event.
He noted that the Christian youth cannot only be groomed by being preached to always in the church, noting that such outdoor activities help to develop them physically and spiritually.

He said the Easter Monday was strategically chosen to keep the youth busy with the outdoor entertainment to curtail the number of youth who would throng the beaches and places where many engage in ungodly activities on such occasions.
Pastor Okyei Boakye said he was excited the soul winning team achieved results by helping the unbelievers who trooped to the Accra Academy School Park, the event grounds, to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour.
The event was supported by Top Choco, producers of cocoa drinks, Gaboo Motors, dealers in authentic Japan spare parts, and Enterprise Life Insurance.
