Joseph King Kong Agbeko is angry at government and sports authorities for what he says is over-concentration on football to the detriment of other sporting disciplines in this country, and has expressed the fear that boxing could slump even deeper if the trend continues.
The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation has been largely dormant since the resignation of immediate past president, Ray Quarcoo last year and are only due to elect new leaders on April 18 and Agbeko is sad by the lack of activity for a hugely talented pool of upcoming boxers.
Inspired by a group of amateur boxers from Kazakhstan who are currently in the US on a training tour, the former Ghana amateur team boxer took to Twitter to express his utmost disappointment at no such initiatives back home.
"Kazakhstan National Boxing Team on training tour. Ghana Amateur Team is definitely sleeping by now," King Kong tweeted very bluntly.
