Brazil international Marquinhos has overtaken the 21-year-old clean sheet record left by Liberian soccer legend George Weah at Paris Saint Gemain.
The 20-year-old centre-back recorded his 34th successive match without a loss during PSG’s 4-0 victory over Bastia in the French League Cup on Saturday.
Weah had held the record at 33 matches since the 1993 / 94 season at the French capital club.
No other player has gone close to both records since the team was founded 44 years ago, according to officials.
Marquinhos joined PSG from Italian side Roma in 2013 and has appeared 40 times with the Ligue 1 champions, scoring four goals.
Weah, who was a striker, moved from Monaco to PSG in 1992, spending three seasons at Parc des Princes and netting 32 goals in 96 games.
He won the Fifa World Player of the Year in 1995, becoming the first and currently only African player to win the award.
